Short-Term Medical Ruling and Rewrites

In August, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) issued a final ruling on short-term medical (STM) plan duration. In that ruling, 90-day plan limitations were lifted, meaning states will have the option to allow carriers to sell STM policies lasting anywhere from 30 to 364 days.

Effective 9/28/18 in states that allow, you will be able to select 10/2/18 effective dates with the longer duration STM policies. Click below to view individual state rules as they stand. Please keep in mind that these states may still be evaluating the new legislation. As we continue to get updates, we will provide updates through our website.
